Good morning to all our dedicated readers! By now of course, you’ll be getting excited about the opening of the Kama Tunnel to public transportation on the 15th and also Kamikochi’s official openining ceremony on the 27th. As we move further into early spring, more services and amentities will gradually become available to visitors, beginning with the simple ability to travel into the park via bus or taxi That’s why we’ve decided to post a handy guide to the dates on which various facilities and businesses will be opening their doors to the public.
As mentioned above, there’s a period of nearly two weeks between the Kama Tunnel opening on Friday April 15th and the “Kaizansai” ceremony that officially opens the mountains up to the public on the 27th. In the meantime, it’s important to know which facilities and amenities are available to the publich from which dates. Of particular interest is the fact that most hotels and lodges open toward the end of the month, making daytrips preferable for most visitors (ie. those who aren’t prepared to bunk down for some proper cold weather camping.

The above should serve as a heads up regarding all the services that will and will not be available for anyone visiting between the 15th and the 27th.
